Cognitive Fluency

We like to think we buy with logic, but biology disagrees. Exploring "Cognitive Fluency" and why the most profitable brands are the ones that require the least amount of thought.

Cognitive fluency is the ease with which the mind processes something. The finding that matters commercially is that the mind reads that ease as a signal about the world: what is easy to process feels more true, more familiar, and more safe.

This is why the most profitable brands are the ones that require the least thought. They are not winning an argument with the buyer. They are removing the friction that would have caused the buyer to start one.

Ore's second signature argument follows from this. African brands do not have a design problem, they have a trust-engineering problem. Aesthetics are downstream of behavioral psychology, and a site can be beautiful while failing the only question the buyer is actually asking in the first seconds.

He has the case study from his own storefront. Diaspora visitors from the US, UK, Canada, and Singapore bounced in under twenty seconds from Naira pricing. The failure was at first paint and it was about trust, not taste. Six trust-layer interventions were designed against that specific moment rather than against the visual design.

The conclusion he draws is that trust is designable and almost nobody in this market designs it. The brands that engineer it win before the pitch begins, which is the only part of the funnel most founders never look at.
